Although this latest generation of consoles is a few years old now, the steady stream of incredible single player games shows no sign of slowing down in 2016. Last year we were treated to a new Hitman, Metal Gear Solid, Fallout and Halo as well as new franchises like Bloodborne. Although we might not see another game from the industry’s big franchises like Halo again this year, there are still a whole host of brand new consoles to get us excited this year.

Of course if you don’t want to splash the cash on a PS4, Xbox One or a PC fast enough for gaming, you probably already own a device capable of playing a wide range of entertaining first player console games, puzzle games and even online roulette games. The graphics and screens of smartphones are now so advanced that console game developers are releasing versions of your favourite single player games for your phones.

In fact it’s reported that spending on mobile gaming overtook spending on console games for the first time last year, so there’s a lot of money to be had from this growing industry. You can now play as characters like Rayman or Tomb Raider on your smartphone with gameplay and graphics that can even rival that of the latest consoles. Even if you’re a console fan, you can find a single player game to suit you. Casino websites like Coral are now even developing online roulette apps for your smartphone that are just as entertaining for many as sitting in front of your console. Thanks to advances in mobile internet technology, you can now practice, or play online roulette at Coral almost anywhere in the country.

But if you’re after something with a bit more action to play alongside your online casino games, then you’ll want to know what’s coming out for the big consoles in 2016. Well one of the most hotly anticipated games for the Xbox One this year is Quantum Break which is due out in April. This fast paced game is all about time. The world as we know it has been destructed and in the aftermath the two main characters have been given the power to control time. One chooses to use this power for evil, and your mission is to try and stop him as the game’s hero Jack Joyce.

Unfortunately for PS4 owners, Quantum Break is only available exclusively for the Xbox One and Windows 10. Luckily Playstation have some other big games up their sleeve for this year, including No Man’s Sky. This game is more like a traditional sci-fi thriller, where you’re transported to another planet and must find out the mystery at the centre of your new galaxy. You’ll be faced with some of the most creative new life forms on the way that you must decide whether to fight or work with to reach your ultimate goal. PS4 fans will have to wait until June for this game to be released.

Of course there will be many single player games that will be released by the end of the year that we don’t even know about yet. Especially as 2016 is set to be the year that Playstation finally release their virtual reality headset which will let you experience single player games in a completely new and exciting way.
