It’s no secret that businesses rely on technology. In fact, the two are becoming more and more interlinked everyday. The biggest businesses in the world now are technology companies. Tech and business have joined forces in one killer alliance. Last week, I left my phone at home, and had to work from the office without it. It completely disrupted my schedule and workday! It got me thinking, what else couldn’t I live without in the business world?

And so I sparked the idea for this blog. I sent a quick email blast to some of my top business connections, and asked them the same question. What one piece of technology could you not live without? I got plenty of great responses, and almost all of them had a similar theme. Let’s reveal the answers, and at the end of the post, I’d love to hear from you. What technology could you not live without?

The iPad – I was almost surprised by this answer, but the number one piece of technology was the iPad. It turns out offices and business people rely on this more than you think. Apple’s fantastic tablet device was quickly adopted by the business community. It was a great way for people to edit and show presentations on the go. Salespeople love it because they can quickly show their customers and clients information and data. Modern sales businesses would simply grind to a halt without it.

The Cloud – Cloud technology received a muted response when it was first unveiled. We weren’t quite sure how we would use it. Now, it has transformed everything. It has become invaluable to most businesses. They use cloud calendars to sync deadlines and meetings throughout the company. They use Google docs to share and edit documents and spreadsheets. They use DropBox and similar storage devices to keep data safe and secure. It’s hard to imagine a modern office functioning without the cloud.

A projector – Another surprise entry here. But, it seems that most offices still rely on the simple projector to give presentations. Whether it’s part of an internal meeting or showcasing projects to potential clients, it’s a valuable tool. The business favourite is the BENQ TH681+ HD Projector, which is about as high-tech as it gets! Business people still love to take the projector around to client offices, and show them a true picture.

Smartphone – Of course, the smartphone was one of the most popular answers. Just like my own iPhone mishap last week, it seems many business people have had a similar experience! Without your phone, you feel stranded in the office. No internet access on the go and no Twitter feed delivering up-to-the-minute news. No instant phone calls, WhatsApp or Skype calls on the move. It’s one of those small things you don’t realise you need until it’s gone! Unfortunately, it’s so easy to do.

There you have it, folks. The four main pieces of technology business people can’t live without. What would you add to this list? Please let me know in the comment section below.
